Sustainable Water Management in Iranian Traditional Buildings by Sardab abstract
Today, economizing on fuels and sustainable development are some of the most important cases in common international challenges. Sustainable development researched on solutions to promote the quality of life and adapt the designs to environment, on the other hand Water,as one of the most important natural energies, needs to have a correctsustainable management to be used by today generation and be saved for future generation too. In a vast country like Iran with its hot and dry climatic zones and its little water resources, architecture is the main factor which can control water waste and direct it to the correct use and also make the climatic condition and interior atmosphere of the buildings adapted for their users. Sardab , is one of the Iranian traditional buildings elements which can help water be managed to be sustainable. This paper, tries to codify Iranian traditional architecture principle and strategies in Sardab design process. Understanding and integration with environment is a reliable pattern for sustainable architecture and makes it possible to adapt the global principles of sustainable architecture to local scale.
