EXPERIMENTAL STUDY AND THERMODYNAMIC MODELLING OF CARBON DIOXIDE SOLUBILITY IN [BMIM][BF4] IONIC LIQUID

New experimental results have been presented for the total pressure above liquid mixtures of carbon dioxide and the ionic liquid. The series of experiments were performed at different temperature and liquid phase composition using a very precise high-pressure stirred reactor system based on the pressure drop method. A temperature range from (298.15 to 333.15) K was investigated where the maximum pressure reached approximately 4 MPa. The experimental results indicated the solubility of carbon dioxide increased by increasing pressure and decreased by increasing temperature. The (extended) Henry’s law has been successfully applied to correlate the solubility pressures.
