Site Effect Estimation in Bam City abstract
On 26 December 2003, a large earthquake rocked the Bam City in southeastern of Iran. The IIEES installed a seismic network including eight 3-component stations in heavy damage area of Bam City for about two months. The network recorded more then 500 aftershocks. The site amplification characteristics are investigated using aftershock data by employing horizontal to vertical spectral ratio (HVSR) and reference site technique in the frequency domain. The theoretical amplification function is also calculated using conducted geophysical investigation and compared with the identified ones at the sites. Finally, the sites under study were classified into two categories based on identified dominant frequency at the sites.
