Abstract:
Due to exclusive features of switched reluctance machine such as simple structure and high reliability, special attention has been paid to this machine in three recent decades. This machine can be used appropriately as an electrical generator in some applications such as wind power and electric vehicle systems. In the present paper, an electromagnetic simulation model is introduced for switched reluctance generator (SRG) with finite element method (FEM) using ANSYS finite element (FE) package. Applying the developed simulation model to different conventional types of SRGs i.e. 8/6, 6/4 and 12/8, transient analyses of these generators are carried out and their important characteristics are compared.
