Abstract:
Nickel (Ni) doped Zinc Sulfide (ZnS) nanoparticles were prepared through a solvothermal method bycoordination control with diethanolamine (DEA) in ethylene glycol (EG). The structure, morphology, composition andoptical properties of Ni doped ZnS nanoparticles (NPs) were characterized by means of X-ray diffraction (XRD),scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive X- ray (EDX) and UV- visible spectroscopy. From X-raydiffraction, the structure of Ni doped nanoparticles was observed as a zinc- blende. Crystallite sizes were studied usingWilliamson- Hall method; it indicated formation of ultra-fine Nano crystals (NCs) with size less than 3 nm. The UVvisiblespectrum showed an absorption peak at 265 nm, The experimental value of band gap of NCs was compared withthe effective mass approximation (EMA) model.
