Comparison of the Effects Nano,Micro and Macro Emulsion Silicone Softeners on Dyed Worsted Fabrics

In this research, dyed worsted fabrics (45/55 W/Pet) were treated with three concentrations (10, 20 and 30g/L) of nano, micro and macro emulsion silicone softener in water at 30 ᵒC by padding method. The treated fabricswere then dried/cured at 120 ᵒC for 60 s. Some of the physical properties of the samples were investigated and theeffects of the softeners were compared. The colors of all samples changed and their lightness (L*) decreased. Theweight of all emulsion treated samples increased which suggests that in all cases the softener is attached to the surfaceof the fabrics. Bending length of all samples was measured and no significant effect on the softness of the fabrics wasdetected.
