Abstract:

In this research, poly vinyl chloride based nanocomposite heterogeneous cation exchange membranes wereprepared by solution casting techniques using titanium dioxide nanoparticles as filler additive. The effect of TiO2nanoparticles concentration on physico/chemical properties of prepared membranes was studied. Results revealed thatmembrane water content was declined by increase of additive concentration. Membranes ion exchange capacity was alsoincreased initially by increase in nanoparticles concentration and then showed decreasing trend. Flux and ionicpermeability increased by increase of TiO2 loading ratio up to 32%. Membrane potential was nearly constant and thendecreased.
