Abstract:

Due to chemical and physical properties of graphene nanoplatelets, it becomes one of the most promisingmaterials in many applications. There are several graphene nanoplatelets producing methods but because of goodquality, mass production and versatility of graphite oxide-based chemical methods with Step by step exfoliation andreduction, the methods attract a lot of attention. Typically, the step by step exfoliation and reduction have relied oneither time consuming or high temperature treatment. Here, time saving and room temperature production method inone step is reported where a simultaneous exfoliation and reduction of graphite oxide synthesized by Hummers’method, are carried out under ultrasonication of graphite oxide in a solution of ethanol and hydroquinone in one step. The graphite oxide and as produced graphene were characterized by X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) and Fourier TransformInfrared (FT-IR).
