Abstract:

The catalytic performance of ZrO2 and CeO2 as promoters and homogenous precipitation and urea-nitrate combustionas synthesis methods has been investigated on the CuO/ZnO/Al2O3 nanocatalyst for the catalytic methanol steamreforming into hydrogen. The physicochemical properties of the prepared nanocatalysts were characterized by XRD,FESEM, FT-IR, EDX and BET analyses. The XRD patterns showed that the CeO2 addition and homogenousprecipitation method improved the Cu dispersion. FESEM results demonstrated that the homogenous precipitationmethod is a good way to reduce the particle size. Ceria decreased the particles size which enhanced the surfacehomogeneity. The catalytic performance is shown that the homogenous precipitation method improves activity. Ceriaas effective promoter reduces CO selectivity.
