Robust Design: An Advanced Quality Engineering Methodology for Change Management in the Third Millennium

While traditional statistical quality engineering approaches are used to control variation, the aim of new advanced quality engineering methodology, i.e. Robust Design is to design products and processes that are minimally impacted by external forces. This paper attempts to demonstrate and discuss how it works and also to highlight its contribution to quality subjects. The outcomes imply that the new methodology has several advantages, comparing to the traditional approaches, including its focus on the ideal function of products/processes and is expected to be considered as the most important issue in the world of quality in the third millennium.
