QUALITY PRACTICES IN PRE-ANALYTICAL PROCESSES OF MEDIUM AND HIGH COMPLEXITY CLINICAL LABORATORIES

Laboratory workflow path consists of three important phases: Pre-Analytical, analytical and postanalytical1 ( ? .1). ???•?????? ???????????•???????????•?? ¢?j????•???•j?•???????•?•???j????????????•???•? storage processes are considered the most important processes in the pre-analytical phase. These processes require standardization and close monitoring through the journey of laboratory workflow path in order to build informative decision for proper diagnosis. Laboratory Management plans this phase to be patient focused, efficient and cost effective. The ultimate goal is to provide supreme patient care management services. This study was therefore conducted to evaluate and determine the effectiveness and efficiency of the services offered by the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at King AbdulAziz Medical City – Western Region (KAMC-WR) which is an accredited laboratory by the College of American Pathologists (CAP) serving approximately five hundred bed hospital at full capacity and seven primary healthcare centers.
