Abstract:

Emergency Department, Haflat-e-Rasoul medical complex, Iran university of medical science, the purpo5e of this study was to correlate pain management in ED with initial and discharge visual analoge scale (VAS) pain score with patient satisfaction at the time of discharge and after 7 day followup. It was conducted as a prospective observational study of patient ; who presented to an ED experiencing pain. Baseline questionnaire including VAS score at the time of presentation & discharge, patient satisfaction in discharge time and through 7 day telephone interview were assessd. f 405 patient who completed [he study, only 23.64 of patients received pain medication in ED.Overall satisfaction(good to excellent) rate was 65.7% at discharge time and 75.1% at 7th day followup. 62.8% of patient who left ED against medical advise were satisfied. There was no correlation between patient satisfaction with actual lime to receive pin medication and change in VAS pain wore between presentation and dischage. Therefoe. us patient satisfaction does not quart: to pain Relief , caution must be used when dealing with patient satisfaction ratings to monitor the level pain control
