A Project Management Risk Model for Developing Countries abstract

So far, many researches have been done regarding project risk management and numerous models introduced. All of the models have their own properties. These researches mainly have been performed in developed countries and the offered models are consistent with properties and specifications of those countries. But developing countries have different conditions from developed countries and their economic, social and cultural developmental trend differs from those of them. Unlike developed countries, organizational patterns of developing countries are functions of their political and economic conditions. Since these factors are too instable therefore organizational models introduced for developed countries are not competent for them and include some shortcomings. The differences among the models have led to various levels of efficiency and effectiveness for each of them. However, knowing the models and having a comprehensive view of them are essential for project managers when they want to approach projects and handle them effectively and efficiently. This paper has examined such factors and offered a risk model able to meet the needs of those kinds of countries. By comparing and improving old models, the offered model may cause more efficient risk management in developing countries projects. Furthermore, it can improve effectiveness of projects.
