The comparative effects of different levels of black cumin seed and Avilamycin (10%) in the diet affecting the performance and blood parameters of broiler chickens

Abstract:

In order to study the effect using of black cumin on seed on feed intake, weight gain, feed conversion, blood concentration parameters of broiler chickens, two hundred Ross broiler chickens were purchased and randomly divided into 5 equal groups, each group having 4 replications with 10 chickens in each replication. Chickens in groups 1, 2, and 3 respectively received 2, 3, and 5 percent black cumin in all the growing period. Chickens in group 4 received Avilamycin (10%) and the chicken in group 5 (control group) received no Avilamycin and black cumin. In order to determine the concentration of total protein, cholesterol, glucose and albumin at the end of the period, blood samples were taken from 10 chickens from each group and their levels in blood serum were measured using commercial kits. At 21-day age and at the end of the period, feed intake, weight gain, and feed conversion ratio were calculated. The study found that black cumin in amounts of 2 and 3 percent, in broilers chickens, had no effect on feed intake, weight gain and feed conversion ratio, but the diet containing 5% black cumin and Avilamycin in all ages lead to increased feed intake, weight gain and had no effect on feed conversion ratio. Black cumin intake and Avilamycin had no significant effect on the concentration of total protein, cholesterol, glucose and blood serum albumin of broiler chickens. In general, it can be concluded that using black cumin in diets may improve the growth of chickens.
