The effect of oxygen glow discharge plasma on the wheat starch by using solvatochromic method

The effect of plasma on molecular interaction of the starch were investigated by media polarity functions. For this purpose wheat starch were exposed to low pressure oxygen glow discharge plasma for different times at 0.07, 0.11 Torr and polarity parameters which including informative data about specific and nonspecific interactions of materials, were investigated before and after exposure to oxygen glow plasma. Based on the results of the media polarity functions, oxygen glow plasma leads to the formation of C = O bond in the molecular structure of wheat starch. For further investigations FTIR and NMR spectroscopies were also done that confirm the results of polarity parameters.
