Abstract:

Several physical modeling and numerical methods for petroleum reservoir simulation have been devoted so far. One of these physical modeling is two-phase immiscible flow which is containing oil and water as non-wetting and wetting phase respectively. Mathematical formulation of this flow in two dimension yield the nonlinear system of pressure and saturation equations with proper initial and boundary conditions. These systems of equations have been solved by combination of finite element method and implicit pressure-explicit saturation scheme (IMPES). The present approach has been tested on an example. The relative error in the numerical solution has been tabulated which satisfy the ability and applicability of our approach.
