Synthesis and Characterization of Water-borne Polyurethane Blended with Chitosan abstract
Chitosan is a renewable, biodegradable, biocompatible and non-toxic material. This biopolymer is produced by N-deacetylation of chitin, the second most abundant natural polymer after cellulose. Poly (ε-caprolactone) (PCL) is also biodegradable synthetic aliphatic polyester. With
introducing of chitosan and poly (ε-caprolactone) to urethanes it is possible to make biomedical polyurethanes which may be used as artificial skin. In this research chitosan-modified polyurethane was prepared by water borne polyurethane with aqueous solution of chitosan. The prepared
polyurethane was characterized by general experimental techniques.
