Abstract:
The detection and diagnosis of parasitic infections rely on several laboratory methods in addition to symptoms clinical history travel history and geographic location of patients. The primary method to detection of parasitic infection is the ova & parasite (O&P) exam used to diagnose the cause of prolonged diarrhea that order to determine presence of parasites in lower digestive tract and if so ,to identify them. Since there are so many other causes of diarrhea , the O&P is often ordered along with other tests , such as a culture stool which identifies the presence of disease-causing bacteria in the stool.
