Abstract:
The aim of the current study was to explore the relationship of grammar knowledge with reading comprehension performance of EFL learners. To this aim, one hundred and twenty post graduate ELT (English Language Teaching) students of Tabriz Islamic Azad University were participated in the investigation. To gather the data, two instruments including TOEFL grammar test and TOEFL reading comprehension test were utilized. The analysis of the data based on the Pearson correlation revealed that grammar knowledge has a strong relationship with EFL learners' reading comprehension. Ultimately, the researcher hopes that the findings shown in this study will provide insights into the connection between EFL learners̓ grammar knowledge and reading comprehension. The current study has some implications for EFL teachers, EFL learners, and researchers. EFL teachers should consider about the grammar knowledge of the learners in instructing the reading comprehension skill. EFL learners also are expected to pay full attention to this important skill and factors that may influence the process of learning.
