Abstract:

Rapid urbanization, rising food demand, land degradation and increasing biofuel demand will put pressure on available land. These global trends are evaluated by a survey of available documented literature to estimate global land shortage in 2050, and to solve this problem urban development and construction of dynamic cities by using static materials have been suggested. The use of very large floating structures (VLFs) in order to build floating cities has been taken into account. Although using VLFs as floating cities has not been considered enough in previous studies, the use of VLFs can significantly help solve the problem of shortage of land today. In this article, various types of VLFs have been introduced for urban development.
