Polymeric Bitumen from Vacuum Bottom Residue and Polymeric Wastes abstract
Asphalt fumes are complex mixtures of various organic compounds, including polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs). During manufacture, storage, transportation and use bitumen is heated giving off hydrocarbon emissions. Production of wastes via man always is growing up, whereas Earth and air are constant in mass and volume for his life. Polymeric wastes are getting from crude oil and it is a nonrenewable resource, recycle of these wastes author increase life of crude oil storages. On the other hand, process of the bitumen from vacuum bottom residue is in high temperature and in this temperature, light, volatile hydrocarbons and fumes extrude from hot vacuum bottom residue. Then fumes entrance to air and increase air pollution. Blends of vacuum bottom residue with wastes materials prepared and their physical properties (such as penetration, softening point, frass breaking point, PG and mass percent of fumes) were studied. Concerning these properties
of bitumen it is concluded that a proper application is found for recycling the cosidered wastes. The results show that bitumen fumes percent of the optimum formulation was reduced and pollutions of air are reducing. Therefor, economize on use of crude oil.
