INNOVATIVE ANTISTRIPPING AGENTS FOR BITUMEN abstract
The use of anti-stripping agents, in order to improve road construction bitumen, is continuously increasing as the various benefits from moisture resistance over workability improvement to aging resistance have been widely recognized. They improve passive and active adhesion between bitumen and aggregate surface, taking to extended service life and reduce maintenance. Nevertheless it is well known those ammines and their derivates, which are the commonly used products, presents different problems like degradation once added to bitumen and stored at high temperature. Also their activeness is highly influenced by bitumen source and type of aggregates. To resolve this problems a new line of anti stripping agents has been developed and commercialized under the name STARDOPE 130P and based on phosphoric compounds, which not only offer the solution to above mentioned problems but also it anticipated to improve performance with most of the aggregates.
