Abstract:
In this study, Y-type hexaferrite nanoparticle (Sr2Co7.1Mg3.0Fe72O22) sample was synthesized using thesol-gel auto-combustion and heat treated at temperature 7333°C. structural, microstructure and magneticpropertiesY-type hexagonal ferrite(Sr2Co7.1Mg3.0Fe72O22) have been investigated. Different experimentaltechniques such as differential thermal and thermo-gravimetric analyse, X-ray diffraction, field emissionscanning electron microscopy (FESEM) and vibrating sample magnetometry were used to investigate thesample. The thermal properties of the specimen have been investigated by thermogravimetric anddifferential thermal analyses.The X-ray diffraction analysis shows that Y-type hexaferrite begin to appearat 7333°C. The microstructure was studied by FESEM the ferrite show a hexagonal plate-like shape whichis a most suitable shape for microwave absorption. Magnetic properties were determined using a vibratingsample magnetometer (VSM).The investigated sample can be used in perpendicular recording media(PRM) due to high value of coercivity 2733 Oe which is analogous to the those of M-type and W-type hardmagnetic.
