Abstract:
In order to investigate the Soil-Structure Iinteraction effects on the Yielding Base Shear Forces of steel elevated tanks with braced columns, three real models with capacity of 134, 160 and 82 m3 are selected. Each model is considered to be empty, 25%, 50%,75% and 100% full and is designed according to 4th version of Iranian 2800 seismic code, taking into account Sa=0.25g & Sa=0.35g spectral accelerations, for soil types I, II, III & IV (Rock or very dense soil, loose rock or dense soil, loose soil with medium compaction and very loose soil) respectively. On each designed model, the information of Convective mass, Impulsive mass and the spring stiffness of the convective mass, is added according to Housner’s theory. For each soil category, the stiffness and damping ratios are computed due to Spring-Dashpot theory. Finally, after applying Modal Pushover analysis on each model, Yielding Base Shear Force for all reservoir models are calculated according to FEMA 365/440 guidelines and the achieved results are discussed
