Abstract:

Artificial leg limbs performance has Impressive improved over the past 20 years along with the development of carbon composite prostheses. The carbon-based prosthetic leg with high flexibility acts as a spring, helping people with disabilities to run and walk. Flexibility and light weight is their most important properties that are achieved from carbon fiber composites mechanical properties. The goal of this research is to build a carbon legs prosthetic. For the design and optimization of artificial carbon leg the finite element method (FEM) is performed using traditional software ABAQUS. Infusion method has been used to build models. In this method the unidirectional and woven carbon fabrics with special arrangement with the epoxy resin is used. Two samples of the artificial leg is prepared for the mechanical tests. The tests is performed in three cases including flat pressure, heel pressure and toe pressure in the laboratory conditions. Comparing the FEM results with experimental data shows good agreement between the results.
