Abstract:

This paper subject is to investigate those social movements in the United States, whichconsidered as collective behavior in terms of sociological theorists. As Islam and Islamicmovements and organizations are increasing every day in a non-Muslim society like theUnited States, a country with more that 1/3 of all Muslims who live in west and also in theUnited States, sheds further light on the importance and necessity of being aware of thesituation of Muslims in these countries. A society in which individuals by a variety of culturesand religions are gathered in it, those are in a distinction and difference with each other.Considering all of the differences, for the writer, it was important to know how Islamicmovements and organizations emerged and developed in the United Stated by resorting tocollective behavior?This paper comes to this point that a number of groups in a frame of social movementsoperating regionally or nationally, have been organized to form and also support of Islamicmovements and sects and following that establish Islamic centers. Those who tried improvethemselves and annually exchange their ideas and beliefs, intellectual materials and products.They were seeking to create an umbrella for gathering all of the Muslims and IslamicMovements under it. Muslims especially black Muslims with all of endeavors in the frame ofcollective behavior reached to their desires by founding thousands of mosques and Islamiccenters in the United States of America.
