Study on Zero Voltage Switching of Extended Dual Active Bridge DC-DC Converter abstract
In this paper, soft-switching analysis of extended topology of isolated bidirectional dual active bridge (DAB) converter is presented. DAB familyconverters are suitable for medium and high powerapplications such as energy storage systems and electrical vehicles. The extended DAB (EDAB) converter has thecapabilities such as electrical isolation between two DC sides, bidirectional power flow and ZVS operation. Multiplicity of switches and high power applications enforce these converters to have low switching loss. Traditional DAB converter, inherently, has zero voltageswitching (ZVS) capability. After a brief introduction of EDAB DC-DC converter, ZVS condition is studied for this converter in detail. A low-scaled prototype is implemented and experimental results comply with the theoretical analysis very well
