A Study on Symbolization of Khanom and Jamah Mosques in the Process of Architectural Art in Qajar Era abstract
Iranian architecture tended to west architecture in Qajar era; however, that tendency was superficial and characteristics of Esfahani style are still seen in the buildings. Here, by studying the Iranian culture and art in building decoration and their symbolic role in the mind of viewer and dealing with the principles that have maintained Iranian tradition and have added special features to that. By studying these effects, we can reveal the identity of these works. By using case study research method, the extent of relation and styles of Qajar architecture in combination with European style is studied and diversity of used materials and capability of quality of conveying the concepts by symbols are reviewed. The designs used in Jamah mosque indicate the effect of Safavid and Zandiyeh era and the western flower and vase style. The effect of west architecture in Khanom mosque is apparent in the symbol of clock and shortness of minarets.
