MEMBRANE REACTORS FOR STEAM REFORMING abstract
Recently, hydrogen has gained a considerable interest as an energy carrier for different applications, particularly for polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cells (PEMFCs). Nevertheless, PEMFCs require high purity hydrogen as the feedstock, which demonstrate some limitations regarding storage and transportation. Therefore, to overcome such problems, an in situ hydrogen generation has made attractive both alcohols and hydrocarbons steam reforming reaction. Some by-products like CO force using an appropriate seperation technology. Membrane reactors requier to accurately assess the simultaneously prouduction and seperation of hydrogen. This review illustrates some feauters of using MSRs for hydrogen roduction based on chemical reformings of methane and methanol.
