A CuFe2O4 nanoparticle ionic liquids carbon paste electrode as a sensor for uric acid analysis

Uric acid is a metabolism product of purine in human body [1]. The uric acid concentrations in urine and serum are in certain ranges for healthy persons. Therefore, the determination of UAconcentration is helpful for the diagnosis of the some diseases such as gout, hyperuricaemia and Lesch-Nyhan syndrome. In this work, a new room temperature ionic liquid modified CuFe2O4 carbon paste electrode had been fabricated by using hydrophilic ionic liquid 1-methyl-3-butylimidazolium bromide as a binder. In the first step, we synthesized CuFe2O4using co-precipitation methods andnanoparticles characterized with TEM method. Figure 1 shows a typical TEM for synthesized nanoparticles. The cyclic voltammogram showed an irreversible oxidation peak signal for UA at a surface ofmodified electrode. Compared to bare carbon paste electrode, the electrochemical response was greatly improved for UA electrooxidation. Detection limit of UA was found to be 0.06 μM using square wave voltammetry (SWV) method. The proposed sensor was successfully applied for the determination of UA in human urine samples
