Comparative study of metadata in Pars azarakhsh andSimorgh Digital Library Softwares with metadata elementsof Dublin core and Marc21

Comparative study of metadata elements in Parsazarakhsh and Simorgh digital library softwareswith metadata elements of Dublin Core and Marc21, is the aim of this research. this research isan applicable research and has been done with surveyed- analytical method. In this research hasbeen used interview with open questions and two checklists of metadata elements of DublinCore and Marc21. with regard to findings of the research, it was distinct that both Parsazarakhshand Simorgh digital library softwares use various metadata formats: Mrc21, Dublin Core, Mods.Simorgh digital library software use ISAD, Premis. Parsazarakhsh digital library software useMads. In addition to this Parsazarakhsh and Simorgh digital library softwares, forinteroperability and information exchange, use Z-39.50 protocol. this findings showns Simorghdigital library software has 72 metadata elements, and Parsazarakhsh digital library software has50 metadata elements. By investigating the amount of consistency of metadata elements usedby Parsazarakhsh and Simorgh to standard of Dublin Core and Marc21, showed that Simorghsoftwares has 43 elements of 183 elements of Marc21(23.49 percent) and 11 elements of 22elements of Dublin Core(50 percent) and Parsazarakhsh softwares has 40 elements of 183elements of Marc21(21.85 percent) and 12 elements of 22 elements of Dublin Core(54.54percent) . this findings showns that in consistency of Marc21, Simorgh is in a better conditionbut in consistency of Dublin Core, Parsazarakhsh is doing better. it also was distinct thatoverlap between the metadata elements of Parsazarakhsh and Simorgh with Dublin Core andMarc21, there is no significant diference.In the end can be concluded neither softwares are not completely consistent with : Mrc21 andDublin Core. Parsazarakhsh and Simorgh digital library softwares are so far from standarddigital library softwares. And it is necessary that software managers study more, so that withmore awareness do something in order to improve this statuse.
