Abstract:

In this study, the sensitivity of the WRF model wind, temperature and rainfall predictions to the choice of ten commonly used configurations, is examined through the simulation of a storm over northern shore of Persian Gulf. For this purpose an event that occurred on 10 to 12 November 2015 affecting southern Iran and causing flooding and damage in Bushehr and Hormozgan Provinces has been considered. These simulations considering different sets of planetary boundary layer, microphysics, cumulus, land surface, longwave and shortwave parameterization schemes were performed, and their results compared to measured data collected at 5 onshore synoptic meteorological stations located in the Bushehr and Hormozgan Provinces. According to the results presented in this study, configuration 2 with parameterization scheme sets of WSM6 scheme for microphysics, MYJ for PBL, KF for cumulus, RRTM for longwave, CAM for shortwave and Thermal for land surface gives the best results for wind speed. In the case of temperature parameter, configuration 4 with parameterization scheme sets of Lin , MYJ , Grell , CAM , CAM and Noah respectively gives the best results. And Finally for the 6 hour accumulated rainfall, the best simulation is devoted to configuration 3 with parameterization scheme sets of Kessler , MYJ , BM , CAM , Dudhia and Noah .
