در در عصر جدید، این شرکت های دانش بنیان هستند که در یک اقتصاد دانش محور بر جهان حکمرانی می کنند. مقوله مدیریت دانش 1 ضمن توسعه بخشیدن به مفهوم و کاربرد تصمیم گیری سازمانی، موضوعات زیادی را در برمی گیرد، از جمله: پویش محیطی، تفسیر محیطی، یادگیری و یاددهندگی سازمانی. نظریه های بنیادی از قبیل مدیریت کیفیت جامع - 2 اگر قرار باشد در - توسعه سازمان های مدرن نقش مکمل را ایفا کنند، باید مورد بازبینی و بازنگری قرار بگیرند. هرگونه پیشبرد در مدیریت کیفیت جامع به جای جداسازی نظریه های جدیدتر مانند مدیریت دانش، باید آنها را با یکدیگر یکپارچه و ادغام کند.
