Abstract:
In this study, a different type of risk that is unique to strategic alliances, named relational risk, has been examined. Relational risk refers to the relationship between the partners, while performance risk refers to the relationship between the partnership and the environment. Perceived risk or subjective risk is decision makers’ estimate of objective risk. It refers to the level of decision makers’ concern regarding partners’ opportunistic behavior. This study has empirically focused on the effect of some personal characteristics of decision makers on perception of relational risk. The finding of this study partially support the relationship between variables. Individual differences in perception of risk could affect individuals risk taking behaviors. Understanding those differences decrease perception of risk between partners and decrease the likeliness of unpleasant outcomes as well.
