Abstract:

In this research manganese was deposited through pack cementation method on AISI 430 alloy.The corrosion properties of the coating at low temperature were tested by electrochemical impedance method. The Box–Behnken experimental design and response surface methodology was used for modeling of variables that affects the corrosion properties of coating. The variables contained percent of Mn on pack cementation mixture (X1), percent of activator (X2) andsintering temperature (X3). The coated samples tested on NaCl 3.5 wt % solution. The obtained results from bode diagram confirmed that Box–Behnken design and response surface methodology could powerfully be applied for modeling of Mn pack cementation coating properties. The optimized condition suggested by software showed that the best corrosion properties is X1=12, X2=3.85, X3=900 with The desirability of 0.986.
