Effect of Piles Distance, Diameter and Hardness of Soil on Pile Group Displacement with Lateral Load abstract
The number of structures that were built on pile groups has been increased since early times.So, the need for research about pile group as one of the most important structural elementsis important more than ever. Lateral loads caused lateral displacement and these forcescontinued by surrounding soil around the pile. Despite the previous studies that have beendone on the pile group with axial load, much learning is required regarding the behaviorof pile group with lateral loading. In this study, pile bearing capacity of 4 x 4 in clay iscalculated and then pile group displacement with lateral load is studied. Piles distance,pile diameter and soil hardness, are variable factors during this study and effect of eachvariable on group displacement –lateral load curves are studied. Plaxis 3D Foundation isused for analysis as finite element method. Finally, it can be concluded that by decreasingpiles distances in pile group lateral displacement increased significantly. On the otherhand, lateral displacement reduced by increasing soil stiffness and piles diameter.
