Abstract:
The most important appropriate reproductive biotechnologies accessible for cattle are estrous synchronization and artificial insemination. Estrous control can be obtained throughout the use of controlled drug delivery systems characterized by a daily release of progesterone. In the present study, PLGA-based in situ forming system was prepared by injecting some specific amount of solution of PLGA and N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone (NMP) containing progesterone into a buffer phosphate/ethanol (80: 20%) at 37 ºC. The PLGA matrix was characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Also, the removal of NMP from PLGA matrix was evaluated by HPLC technique. The results show that a slow NMP removal from PLGA matrix is observed due to hydrophobicity of PLGA system causing a decline in water penetration
