Abstract:
In this study, Curcumin (CUR) nanofibers with new drug trapping agent (Si-O-Si network) have been produced through functionalization of graphene oxide (fGO) with 3-Aminopropyl triethoxysilane (APTES) fabrication of novel biomedicated ultrafine fiber mats with application for preventing wound infections and local chemotherapy against breast cancer cells. Polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) and Chitosan (CS) have been used as biodegradable and low immunogenicity carrier for electrospinning of fGO-Si-CUR containing nanofibers. In vitro drug release profile was investigated using ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy and results were shown that our novel nanofibers could limited initial burst release of drug and gave better sustainability in comparison with the blend nanofibers without APTES modified fGO. Also in vitro cell toxicity experiments which were performed by XTT method on MCF-7 cell line strongly suggested that the fGO-Si-CUR including nanofibers were excellent candidate for postoperative chemotherapy of breast cancers
