Effect of Dicumyl Peroxide Content on the Mechanical Properties of EVA/NBR/Organoclay Vulcanized Nanocomposites

Ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA)/acrylonitrile butadiene rubber (NBR)/organoclay vulcanized nanocomposites were prepared in an internal mixer using a peroxide system. In this paper the effect of different amounts of dicumyl peroxide (DCP) on the tensile properties, gel content and dispersion of organoclay layers in theEVA/NBR/organoclay vulcanized nanocomposite was studied. Increasing of the weight percentage of DCP showedan enhancement in tensile properties in comparison with that of the unvulcanized sample. The results also indicated that the addition of higher amounts of DCP, increased the gel content of vulcanized nanocomposites
