A study on the anticorrosion performance of aluminium flacks modified with amino trimethylen phosphonic acid

This paper reports the corrosion performance of the aluminium powder after surface modification. The aluminium particles were chemically treated by amino trimethylen phosphonic acid (ATMP).The amino-tri-(methylenephosphonic acid) layer was adsorbed on the surface of aluminum pigment in order to improve its corrosion inhibition action. The surfacecharacteristics of the unmodified and modified aluminum pigments were investigated by means of TGA and FTIR analyses.The corrosion resistance of the modified pigment was investigated by the electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS).Results revealed that amino-tri-(methylenephosphonic acid) adsorbed on the surface of aluminium pigment via acid-base interaction in a bi-dentate conformation.
