Investigation on surface roughness of oxidized Natural rubber by Mediated Electrochemical Oxidation using Silver(II)

In this paper cured natural rubber (NR) was oxidized by mediated electrochemical oxidation (MEO) in the presence of silver (II). Elemental analysis (EDAX), Atomic force microscopy (AFM), and contact angle measurement were employed to study, surface elemental, roughness, and polarity of NR, respectively. Results showed that surface roughness of the NR uniformly changed. Also on the NR surface nano roughness increased one order of magnitude. On the other hand, surface polarity of the oxidized NR was increased while contact angle decreased slightly
