Abstract:
Jung and Le Guin both were influenced by religious doctrines, such as taoism and christianity. Their beliefs and traditions are traced in their works. Le Guin has alsobeen influenced by Jungian concepts and thoughts incorporatesthese ideas into her awardwinning Scince fiction novel The Left Hand of Darkness. This paper provided a contrast inthe form of detailed analysis of the dualities that exists in the world Le Guin created based on these ideas and how thesedualities are realted to wholistic epistemology/ontology. Shadow Archetype trikes/leads ego consiousness.into deconstructing dualities and making new dualities, by projecting itself into supressin and then awakening to break dualities. It is conclued that it is apparent that the shadow archetype leads to creation of consiousness, temporalwholenee of dualities leading to multiplication of meaning and collective indivtualtion through personal indivituation.but these two oppositing aspect of the shadow are complementary, because it creates consiousness, meaning, temporarywholeness and indivituation collectivelly and personally and takes personal shadow expiences and adds them to the collective shadow of indivitual for the next generations to come.
