Abstract:

Magnetite/graphene oxide nanocomposites were synthesized by co-precipitation of Fe3O4 nanoparticles on the synthesized graphene oxide sheets. The morphology and magnetic properties of the magnetite/graphene oxide nanocomposites were characterized by field emission scanning electron microscope (FE-SEM) and vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM), respectively. The magnetite nanoparticles exhibited superparamagnetic behavior at room temperature. The saturation magnetization of the synthesized nanocomposites increased from 23 to 48 emu g-1 by increasing the magnetic phase content. The observed FE-SEM images confirmed that the synthesized magnetite nanoparticles size distribution is below the superparamagnetic critical size of this material
