Application of Zirconium Phosphate Doped with Nano Titania for Photodegradation of Methyl green abstract
Nanocrystalline titanium dioxide pillared zirconium phosphate was prepared by intercalating titanium (IV) isopropoxide sol inside the phosphate layer. This pillared sample is stable up to 500°C and exhibit highest surface area with high photocatalytic activities. In the present work, photodegradation of methyl green (MG) was studied in aqueous solution over titania pillared zirconium phosphate under UV-radiation. The reaction was studied by varying different parameters such as pH, titania load, catalyst concentration, initial MG concentration, irradiation time. The degradation process approximately obeyed first-order kinetics with apparent rate of degradation
constant increasing with decreasing the initial MG concentration.
