Abstract:
Self-healing is a major driving factor in the smart grid vision having the ability to improve the operation of distribution networks during a fault. This paper proposes a comprehensive framework for self-healing control action.The proposed algorithm consists of two steps. In the first step, fault and its location are identified by smart protectiondevices and then, the algorithm orders to isolate the faulty zone. In the second step, the self-healing action with the aimof minimizing the number of de-energized zones and loads and ensuring that all of the electrical and operative constraints of the system are not violated determines the condition of all switches. In this step, the self-healingalgorithm considers load-shedding to reach the system s aims. In so doing, the restored network operates in the healthycondition. The proposed self-healing control action is divided into two different algorithms, backward-forward sweep, and genetic algorithm. A 38-node test system is used to verify the proposed algorithm
