Abstract:

In this study, stiffness method is used as analysis stage of surface wave method. Phase-velocity scanning technique is used to obtain wave field variation in theoretical dispersion curve. A three layered media, with its elastic parameters is taken. Three parameters namely, geophones offset, number of geophones and frequency increments is assumed and their effectson the resolution of dispersion curve is studied. A MATLAB code is written and the effect of these parameters are examined by changing the number of geophone and their offsets. The offsets are taken 2 and 8 meters and series of 48 and 240 geophones is taken to examine their effect on the resolution of dispersion curve. By selection of different intervals in frequency domain, its effect on the resolution of dispersion curve is obtained. The results show that by decreasing the geophones offset, increasing the number of geophones, and decreasing frequency intervals, the resolution of dispersion curve will be better.
