Abstract:
The paper investigates SDN networks in which data plane and control plane have been isolated and problems such as complexity in systems and hardware dependence have been reduced; meanwhile software capabilities and network smartness are increased and the network can be controlled completely; specially in data centers through which a lot of traffic load is crossing. With the SDN capabilities, reduction in energy consumption and traffic engineering in data centers can be achieved. We also investigate traffic engineering status for SDN in four different views of flow management, fault tolerance, topology update and analysis of traffic. Architecture details of a modern DCN and energy consumption in data centers have also been considered.
