Abstract:

To promote a complex character like performance which is not highly inheritable, we take advantage of indirect selection using other characters through an appropriate selection index based on several characters are effective in this regard. These characters must play an effective role on stability of performance. This survey was conducted with aim to evaluate selection indices and performance procedures used for selection of 30 types of bread wheat. The test was conducted in three full random blocks with three frequencies at Research Farm of Faculty of Agriculture of Isfahan University of Technology in 2005. The results showed that the differentials between figures, in term of all characters, was significant. Therefore, adequate genetic varieties are observed in all measured characters; consequently, there were possibility for determination and examination of the selection performance. According to the selection indicators, Alvand and Shah Pasand figures were elected as the magnificent figures. Number of ears in an Sq. meter had a positive and high rates in the selection indicators. The coefficient of days up to the day the grain eared had a negative impact on the selections indicators. Accordingly, selection based on indicator may result in selection of premature figures with massive number of ears. The results of direct and correlate replies of characters to the selection test show that under similar conditions, the premature figures and massive number of ears, lesser grains and high weight of one thousand grains, may take advantage of performance with higher potential. In this survey, Smith-Hazel Indicator has a higher performance.
