Efficient virtual machines placement in physical machines for cloud computing environments abstract
Cloud computing delivers the computing services over the internet. Cloud services help individuals and organization to usedata that are managed by third parties or another person at remote locations.Migration of a virtual machine is simply moving the VM running on a physical machine (source node) to another physical machine(host node). The virtualization gives the power of partitioning the physical host in to multiple virtual machines. We can manage thenumber of active host and their power consumption by migrating the virtual machines according to their resource requirement andcurrent status on that particular host.In migration process the processor state, storage, memory and network connection are moved. It is widely used in IT organizations tooffer efficient online maintenance, fault tolerance, reconfiguration and load balancing. Two important performance metrics aredowntime and total migration time that the users care about most, because these metrics deals with service degradation and the timeduring which the service is unavailable. In general migration improve resource utilization and communication locality, mitigateperformance hotspots, achieve fault tolerance, reduce energy consumption, and facilitate system maintenance activities. in this paper wetry to improve energy consumption by selecting better hosts for VM machines during migration.
