Ultimate Bearing Capacity of Shallow and Deep Foundations from Cone Point Resistance abstract
Based on static analysis, an analytical model based on general shear failure mechanism of logarithm spiral type has been developed for calculating directly bearing capacity of foundations, qult from cone resistance, qc. The transform of failure mechanism from shallow to deep foundation, and scale effect has been considered in the proposed method. The proposed method has been compared to the measured capacity ranging from 3 to15 kg/cm2 of 16 full scale footing static load tests located in different soils, and CPT soundings as compiled in a database. The calculated statistical error for validation indicates optimistic results of capacity estimation for proposed method which is simple and routine
